jpnn.com – The Indonesian House of Representatives’ Special Committee (Pansus) of Inquiry detected misappropriation of the 2024 Hajj quota by the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), which was originally allocated for regular pilgrims, then allocated for special pilgrims.

This was stated by member of the DPR RI Hajj Special Committee Ace Hasan Syadzily when answering questions from media crew at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (2/9).

Ace said that in 2024, Indonesia initially received a Hajj quota of 221 thousand pilgrims who could be sent to Saudi Arabia.

The Deputy General Chairman (Waketum) of Golkar said that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) then came to Saudi Arabia with the results of increasing the Hajj quota for Indonesia.

“We got an additional 20 thousand,” Ace said Monday.

According to him, Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, which oversees Hajj affairs, then held a meeting with the Ministry of Religion after the additional quota provided by Saudi Arabia emerged.

Ace said that the meeting of Commission VIII with the Ministry of Religion agreed on an additional 20 thousand quota for regular hajj.

“Our quota is 221 thousand, plus an additional 20 thousand, making it 241 thousand,” said the alumnus of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

The Indonesian House of Representatives Inquiry Committee sniffed out misappropriation of the 2024 Hajj quota by the Ministry of Religious Affairs related to the regular allocation being changed to a special Hajj. This is wrong.
