Conservatives elected M. Lingė as the new leader of the faction in the Seimas

This was confirmed to Elta by Raminta Keršytė, representative of the faction of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD).

“There is no special joy like that, especially since in other circumstances, if that horizon was not visible, maybe a different decision would have been made. Those duties and responsibilities seem to be enough. But the members of the group expressed their confidence with motivation. And, apparently, the thirteen meetings that are still scheduled in the regular session are a surmountable challenge,” M. Lingė told Elta in the Seimas on Tuesday.

“One of the challenges will be the presentation of the budget, which is closely related to the Budget and Finance Committee. I think that the discussions both in the faction and in the Seimas with colleagues will allow the session in the Seimas to end,” he hoped.

Jurgis Razma, the vice-chairman of the Seimas, who temporarily held this position, had previously hinted that he would propose M. Lingei to become the permanent leader of the faction. M. Lingė indicated that the faction meeting also discussed the candidacy of Mr. Razma, but his colleague refused to be elected as an elder.

ELTA reminds that after receiving the attention of the law enforcement and the resignation of the leader of the TS-LKD faction in the Seimas, Andrii Vyšniauskas, it was decided that the faction will be temporarily led by the first deputy leader, Seimas vice-chairman J. Razma.

The candidates for committee chairpersons will be decided within a week

On Tuesday, the conservatives in the faction also discussed the positions of chairmen of two Seimas committees – Foreign Affairs and Economy. However, no final decision has been made regarding the candidates for these posts.

“Since the ordinary session of the Seimas starts in a week, we will make final decisions on the candidacies during the week,” said M. Lingė.

The position of the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee (URK) became vacant after the former chairman Žygymantas Pavilionis was appointed as the vice-chairman of the Seimas. At that time, the Economic Committee was headed by Kazys Starkevičius, who was appointed as the Minister of Agriculture.
