Deputy Minister of Transportation Nelson Reyes reported that August ended with a 25% decrease in deaths from road accidents, due to the increase in controls and the psychological factor of announcing photo fines.

“We are concerned that 38% of those who die in road accidents are motorcyclists, so it is important that these drivers have their driving license because that guarantees that the person is qualified,” said Reyes.

The Vice Minister assured that within the National Road Safety Plan for Motorcyclists, they are providing training to motorcyclists from delivery companies.

“With the help of FOSALUD doctors, we have managed to increase the number of anti-doping controls that we carry out, which translates into an increase in the number of people arrested for dangerous driving, which now totals 1,553 so far this year,” the official explained.
