Mayra Salazar was sentenced to 15 months in the Metastasis Case due to her cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office, through an abbreviated procedure.

In addition to the prison sentence, Salazar must pay $17,340 in material reparations and, as non-material reparations, he must publicly apologize.
Salazar’s lawyer requested that she be sent back to the women’s prison in Quito, but the judge said that that is not his jurisdiction, so she will be transferred to the Cotopaxi prison. Mayra Salazar’s defense will request before a penitentiary judge that she be released from Cotopaxi because “she is not safe in that prison,” said lawyer Marín, who preferred not to refer to the threats against the defendant by the Metastasis case.
