The circumstances remain unclear but a masked man was shot dead on Tuesday, September 3, during the robbery of a hair salon in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, the public prosecutor told AFP, Caroline Calbo.
At this stage, we do not know the identity of the person who fired the fatal shots, and of the person who was injured, yet. But several sources believe that this crime may be connected to the settlement of scores, AFP learns.

According to the main elements of the investigation, the events took place on Tuesday, at noon. Lawyer Caroline Calbo explained that many people stole a toilet, located on a busy street in Pointe-à-Pitre. A “black” man was shot dead in the street, and two people are still running away.
An ambitious investigation was opened for “intentional killing and armed robbery”. He was handed over to the criminal unit of the regional service of the judicial police. The assembly said that the autopsy of the victim’s body is scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, in the morning.
Near the scene of the disaster, a school, where students were returning to school, was evacuated and closed by the mayor of Pointe-à-Pitre, Harry Durimel.
“This is the 23rd murder since the beginning of the year, including 17 by firearm,” added Caroline Calbo, stressing that “this murder is not the only incident of the day.” Early Tuesday morning, a shooting in another city left a victim, currently “between life and death”.
