The Ministry of Agriculture sent the World Organisation for Animal Health (WHO) the report on the closure of the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) AH5N1 registered in a backyard property of Temascalcingo, State of Mexico, thus the outbreak was eradicated.

On August 17th, the Directorate General of Animal Health (DGSA) of the National Service of Health, Safety and Agri-Food Quality (Senasica) notified the WHO of the presence of an outbreak of avian influenza IAAP AH5N1 in backyard birds of a family unit in the State of Mexico.

Immediately, specialized personnel for the Prevention of Foot and Mouth Disease and other Exotic Animal Diseases were transferred to the property, which housed 66 live native birds and 14 dead ones.

The live birds presented signology compatible with avian influenza (yellowish white diarrhea, ruffled feathers, runny nose, difficulty breathing, among other conditions).
