In 2023, Anntonia Porsild appeared at Miss Miss Universe Thailand as a contestant shocked many people because she had previously won the title of Miss Supranational 2019.
Accepting to start over, Anntonia faced a lot of pressure. In the early days of participating in the contest, she was criticized for her unfit body and awkward catwalk. In particular, the appearance of the strong candidate Veena Praveenar Singh put Anntonia under even more pressure when the public put her on the scale to compare.

To get to Miss Universe 2024many contestants gave up their titles to start over. Up to four beauties who won high titles at Miss International 2022 gave up their titles to get tickets to Miss Universe 2024, but luck only smiled on two of those beauties: 2nd Runner-up Tatiana Calmell (Peru) and 4th Runner-up Celinee Santos (Dominican Republic).
Most recently, beauty Jennifer Colon – 1st runner-up of Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2009 caused a stir when she decided to return to beauty pageants after 10 years. Previously, Jennifer won the title of Miss World Puerto Rico 2009 and competed in the Miss World contest.
Impressive transformation
Accepting to start over, the beauties had to compete fairly with other candidates to win the right to represent their country in the Miss Universe pageant. Many beauties have demonstrated their improvement over a long period of time.
Returning to the beauty pageant after 10 years, Puerto Rico representative Jennifer Colon proved her maturity at the age of 37. Competing with girls in their 18s and 20s, Jennifer still showed her energy on stage. She also made many people admire her for maintaining a toned body and strong abs despite having given birth three times.

Jennifer graduated from Colegio Bautista High School in Levittown, Puerto Rico, then studied chemistry for three years at Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico in Cupey.
She also studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico. With an impressive profile, Jennifer is considered a strong candidate for Miss Universe 2024.
Returning to the beauty pageant, the two runners-up of Miss International 2022, Tatiana Calmell (Peru) and Celinee Santos (Dominican Republic), are also considered to have impressive performances in terms of skills, knowledge, and behavior. They are both considered formidable competitors of the Americas region at Miss Universe 2024.

Fierce competition
Many beauties who had previously won high prizes still received bitter endings when they returned to beauty contests. They were commented to have performed poorly and had not made much progress after a long process of achieving the title.
Ivana Batchelor – 2nd runner-up of Miss Grand 2020 decided to give up the title to attend Miss Universe Guatemala 2022. After winning, she represented Guatemala at Miss Universe 2022. However, at that year’s competition, Ivana Batchelor was judged to be lackluster and had to leave empty-handed.
Miss Earth 2016 Katherine Espin gave up her title to participate in the national beauty pageant Miss Universe Ecuador 2024 but sadly stopped at the second runner-up position. She was commented to have no novelty or appeal.
Most recently, beauty Ahtisa Manalo – 1st runner-up at Miss International 2018 gave up the title to compete in Miss Universe Philippines 2024 but stopped at 2nd runner-up. Although regretful, many people have to agree that Ahtisa Manalo has not had an impressive transformation after 6 years.
Miss Universe has always been a fiercely competitive playground, requiring contestants to strive to improve their beauty, skills, qualifications and knowledge. Even though they have won the title, the beauties still have to make great efforts if they want to reach the dream of the universe.
