The opening ceremony of the ‘Mango School’, a rental farm for young farmers in Sinan County, was held. Sinan County (Governor Park Woo-ryang) held the opening ceremony of the ‘Mango School’, a rental farm for business training to foster young farmers, on the 3rd.

The opening ceremony was attended by the county governor, county council members, five young farmers, and residents who came to encourage the young farmers. The ‘Mango School’ that held the opening ceremony built two 6,600㎡ greenhouse-type rental farms on county land in Jido-eup.

The rental farm was completed in 2023 and is equipped with a built-in smart greenhouse with a complex environmental control system that automatically controls the facility environment according to environmental settings, electric heating equipment, and a management office that can manage crops and the environment.

The five young farmers who participated in this management training rental farm will grow 2,000 apple mango trees.

The background of Shinan County’s promotion of a business training rental farm project for young farmers following the purchase and rental of youth fishing boats is to foster facility agriculture as a future food source in response to natural disasters caused by rapidly changing climate change, and to find a reason for young people to stay in the region amid social disasters such as population decline and regional extinction.

At the opening ceremony, Shinan County Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “The five young farmers here now will become the cornerstones of Shinan County’s agriculture in the future. It is also our role to provide them with the opportunity to boldly pursue their dreams, regardless of failure or success, that they were unable to pursue due to fear of failure.” He added, “We will support them so that they can grow into respectable farmers.”

An official from the Shinan County Agricultural Technology Center said, “The purpose of the management training rental farm is to help young farmers who lack capital and experience minimize failures and develop expertise so that they can become self-reliant,” adding, “We will do our best to strengthen the capabilities of young farmers through regular on-site consulting.”

Shinan County operates the largest management training rental farm in the country with a total area of 42,328㎡, and as of 2024, 28 young farmers are growing coffee, bananas, apple mangoes, strawberries, etc.
