He became the oldest scorer in the top tier

Mathieu Valbuena, with the goal he scored the day before yesterday against Panathinaikos at Leoforos, giving Athens Kallithea a 2-1 lead, became the oldest player to find the net in the history of the A’ National-Super League 1.

The Frenchman broke a record that had been held since April 1997, dethroning Tasos Mitropoulos from the top of this list after 27 years and 133 days.
Valbuena scored at the age of 39 years and 339 days, surpassing the Greek midfielder, who had put the Veria team ahead in the match against AEK on April 21, 1997, when he was 39 years and 241 days old.

Valbuena is also at the top of the list for the oldest scorers in the A’ National/Super League for Olympiakos, as the goal he scored on April 12, 2023, against AEK at the Karaiskakis Stadium gave him this record.
He was 38 years and 138 days old, leaving second-place Ariel Ibagasa, who scored at the age of 37 years and 90 days in the Xanthi – Olympiakos match which ended 0-2.
Of course, with this goal, he also becomes the oldest scorer in the history of Kallithea in the top division, leaving behind Alexios Alexandris, who scored in Kallithea’s 3-1 win over Aris on May 25, 2005. At that time, the Greek forward was 36 years and 216 days old.
