The match will be played at the Marijampolė stadium, it starts at 19:00, admission to the match is free, you only need to get free invitations on the kakava.lt website.
“I would not like the attention to go from the match to the background, the circumstances, which are somewhat curious. The stadium has become our home, due to certain circumstances we will not play here. It’s a shame it happened.
We are at a stage where we are growing and gathering experiences. We weren’t prepared, we didn’t know what the circumstances might be after such big events, how long it would take to get the pitch back to the right condition. I think that everyone who is connected with this will learn from the mistakes made, as we all learn, and such things will not happen again in the future”, said E. Jankauskas about the transfer of the match to Marijampolė from Kaunas.
However, according to him, the goals still do not change.
“The goals are very simple – to win. Today, the most capable football players are in the national team camp, they are all ready for tomorrow’s match. We have said before that we have serious losses, but we are waiting for the players to come back as soon as possible and join us in the next windows,” the specialist added.
The last time the national team played in Marijampolė was in 2009, so the coach used the opportunity and invited the fans to the match.
“The residents of Marijampole are lucky, I know how much they love football, the festival is returning to their city and we expect support from fans from all over Lithuania,” the strategist said.
In this national team there are also several returns after long breaks. Titas Milašius, Tomas Kalinauskas and Dominykas Barauskas, who recovered from a serious injury, received the invitation.
“As for Dominykas, I am especially happy that he was able to return to the level he was at, maybe even to a better one, I know how much it cost him. Very happy, a great example for players who find themselves in such career situations, proof that with hard work and a goal, anything is possible.
Titus and Tom have earned this invitation, a chance to show their capabilities, with their play in the clubs. We see them, we observe them, and everyone has a chance to be here”, E. Jankauskas thought.
He also spoke in more detail about Justas Lasickas, who is the captain of this national team and who made his debut in the national team during the first stage of E. Jankauskas as a national team coach.
“I remember very well what he was like in the ranks of Zalgiris, later and when we first invited him, then he was one of the youngest players. He is still very young and in the most important stage of his career when maturity, wisdom, game intelligence comes.
If he puts that baggage to good use, he has many more years of big football ahead of him. His story is very great and I hope he will pass on his experience to other players as well,” the coach said.
