Dix million people from 158 countries tried to buy a ticket to one of the concerts of the Oasis reunion tour on August 31. Which left more than 8.5 million in the lurch and, among them, many the Brits are pretty angry.
Partly because of the way the sale took place, especially on Ticketmaster, the only ticket office that will not leave the eyes of the stream of Internet users eager to see the Gallagher brothers again on the same stage. Many people got out of the queue – after almost six hours in the same virtual queue. They are considered a robot or, once their ticket is in the basket, see the message “an error has occurred” is displayed, without being able to validate their purchase.
The dynamic pricing system has been criticized
On the other hand, many have the unpleasant surprise of finding the powerful pricing structure of the platform. Entering early in the morning, they queued for a standing ticket in the pit for £151 (around 180 euros) and, six hours later, the same seat cost more than 350 pounds Sterling (around 415 euros Europe).
Among the angry fans are some members of the British parliament, who are also empty. The issue arose at Westminster. The European Commission has also announced that it is investigating the legality of such practice regarding the sale of concert tickets.
Ticketmaster responded to this outrage (and possible legal consequences) by comparing itself to resorts and airlines whose prices vary according to demand. A statement which obviously does not calm the anxiety of Oasis fans, especially because the Gallagher brothers, rarely quiet, are quiet this time.
The Gallaghers have their little shoes
It was only Thursday evening that the group responded through a first Instagram story: the announcement of two additional concerts, on September 27 and 28, 2025 at the Wembley Stadium in London. At the same time, he explained that these places will be available for purchase “by invitation only”. As during the previous sale, you will have to register in hopes of choosing to enter the sale. The strategy is aimed “primarily at the many fans in the United Kingdom who could not get tickets during the first sale on Ticketmaster”. Therefore, the place of residence will be considered in the selection of elected officials.
All the details have not been provided, but the members of the group (which has not announced its final line although the names Bonehead and Gem Archer are circulating to follow Liam and Noel Gallagher) have tried to hang on the branches to get themselves free from marketing practices.
“Let me clarify, Oasis leaves the decisions about the ticket and the price entirely to the promoters and their management, and at no time does the club know that the power price will be used,” we read in the document. communiqué. They also insist that the error also comes with an “unexpected demand” which does not allow their “marketing strategy” to be a “fair experience for fans”.
The Gallaghers targeted
On the air side, the anger has not subsided. Neither Liam Gallagher, who has been very affable every day on Twitter/X for many years, nor Noel Gallagher has spoken personally on the subject outside of this press release. They have dressed for winter on social networks and their “working class hero” status has taken a huge hit. Also, there is no guarantee that the power price will not be used once again by Ticketmaster or that the platform will be able to differentiate between a person hoping to see their favorite band on stage after 15 years of absence and a robot.
Let’s also hope that between now and the tour, which is currently scheduled to start in Cardiff on July 4, 2025, the sun continues to shine between Liam and Noel and no guitar ends on either their head of the Gallagher brothers. Eleven months is a long time and in the event of another separation, we will probably not count on the reassurance of Oasis fans, especially if they are British.
