The Argentine delegation won two new medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, after Paula Gómez (judo) and Stefanía Ferrando and Rodrigo Romero (boccia) took third place in their respective disciplines.

The first medalists of the day for Argentina were Ferrando and Romero, who won the bronze in mixed boccia after beating Thailand’s Akkadej Choochuenklin and Ladamanee Kla-Han 4-2 in the match for third place. This is the first time Argentina has won a medal in this discipline. Next up was judoka Gomez, who beat Canadian Priscila Gagne and also won the bronze medal in the -57 kilogram category.

In this way, the Argentine delegation reached nine medals in the current Paralympic Games, equaling the amount obtained in Tokyo 2021 (although in the Japanese capital it did not win any gold).

Argentina secured another medal on Thursday, as the Argentine blind soccer team, Los Murciélagos, qualified for the final after beating Brazil 4-3 on penalties after a goalless draw in regular time. Los Murciélagos will face France in the final on Saturday, which beat Colombia 1-0, in search of its first gold medal at the Paralympic Games.

Finally, Argentine tennis player Gustavo Fernández lost in the semi-finals to Japanese Oda Tokito by 6-2 and 7-5 and will play for the bronze against Spaniard Mariano De La Puente.
