Ukraine has called on Iran to under no circumstances supply ballistic missiles to Russia, after reports appeared in the media that Moscow was receiving supplies of the advanced weapons, DPA reported.
Confirmation of these reports would have serious consequences for bilateral relations between Kyiv and Tehran, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
The agency said that deepening cooperation between Iran and Russia threatens the security not only of Ukraine, but also of Europe, the Middle East and the rest of the world, BTA reported.
Kiev has long accused Tehran of supporting Moscow’s war — specifically by providing Iranian drones or plans to manufacture unmanned aerial vehicles.
The international community must increase pressure on Iran and Russia to protect international peace and security, the statement of the Foreign Ministry in Kyiv also said.
Meanwhile, Iran denied a Wall Street Journal report that it had supplied ballistic missiles to Russia.
“Iran considers the delivery of military aid to belligerent countries inhumane and therefore will not take any action in this regard,” Tehran’s UN mission in New York said in a statement.
