Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Olympic Marathon is being organized in connection with the first Kerala Olympics. The match will be played on May 1 in Thiruvananthapuram. There is a 21.1 km half marathon and a 10 km long distance race. The first Kerala Marathon features the highest prize money in the country. The winners of the various categories will be awarded Rs 11 lakh.

The first place winner in the men’s and women’s half marathons will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000. 30,000 for the second place and Rs. 20,000 for the third place. The prize money is Rs 15,000 for the fourth place, Rs 10,000 for the fifth place and Rs 5,000 for the sixth place.

The prizes will be divided into three categories: Open Category for 18 to 45 year olds, Senior category for 45 to 55 year olds and Vettiran category for 56 year olds.

The first prize in the 10 km long race is Rs 20,000. The second prize will be Rs 15,000, the third prize will be Rs 10,000, the fourth prize will be Rs 5,000 and the fifth prize will be Rs 3,000. People from different parts of the country will come to participate in the first Kerala Marathon. V Sunilkumar, State President, Kerala Olympic Association, said that the half marathon, which is attended by over a thousand people, will be a new chapter in the history of sports in Kerala.

The marathon will also feature Olympic medalists, other senior athletes and film stars who will be arriving in the capital as part of the Kerala Olympics. The Kerala Olympic Marathon also features a chip-mounted vibe used in international marathons. Kerala Olympic Association Secretary General S Rajeev said that the Olympic Marathon will become the largest marathon in Kerala.

You can register for the marathon on the Kerala Olympic Association website from March 7. Registration closes on April 15. Only majors over the age of 18 can participate in the marathon. The first Kerala Olympic Marathon was sponsored by SP Sports Healthcare.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will officially inaugurate the first Kerala Olympic Games on April 30 at 5.30 pm. The function will be attended by Union and State Ministers, Padma Shri Mohanlal, who is also the Goodwill Ambassador of the Kerala Olympics, Dr. Narendra Dhruva Bandra, President of the Indian Olympic Association and other eminent personalities in the field of sports.

Tokyo Olympics medalists will be honored at the opening ceremony. This is the first time in the country that the Olympics are being held at the state level. The winners of the District Olympics will compete in the State Olympics.
