Cricketers from 64 districts across the country have come to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) with 16 points of demand. BCB, the governing body of cricket in the country, has also assured to accept the demand as it is reasonable.
On Sunday (08 September) cricketers from all over the country came to BCB. They brought the leaflet ‘Demands on behalf of Cricketers of 64 Districts of Bangladesh’ containing 16 demands. Submit them in written form to the board.
The demands include domestic cricket calendar, formation of second-tier teams in each division of the National Cricket League, organization of three editions of tournaments in the first division, inclusion of 90 players including the best 30 players in the first, second and third divisions along with three editions of the first division league.
Apart from this, improving the quality of umpiring, good wickets, ensuring ODI and T20 league and practice facilities in every district of the country, BCB paid coaches should not work in any academy, first division league matches of Dhaka should be arranged for online live broadcast, cricketers They demanded that the Welfare Association (QUAB) be restructured and allowed to function independently, and that the cricket board should take responsibility for the treatment of registered cricketers if they get injured.
Riazul Riyad, a player of the first division cricket league, told the media in Mirpur, “Irregularities have been happening for a long time. If BCB is optimistic, then we hope this issue will be resolved soon.’
Cricketer Asaduzzaman said, ‘We want Quab to be restructured. This quab actually doesn’t know much about cricketers. Never spoke to us. When we mentioned our problems to Quab, they did not respond. We, who have come from 64 districts, all have the same demand, let Kwab be reorganized.
Nazmul Abedin Fahim, the new director of BCB, considers these demands of the cricketers to be reasonable, “Regarding the demands you have…now what the cricket board will do will benefit me or you, not that… what will benefit cricket, see that.” Whatever needs to be done for that, the cricket board will look into that matter as per its capacity.’
“You (to the cricketers) can be sure of one thing, the cricket board will try to support you as per its ability. You can present your talent by playing cricket. Let them be evaluated according to their merit. It may not be possible to fulfill all your demands immediately. But we will have the wish that you are the ones, so that cricket is profitable.’
