The weather will deteriorate from tonight until the afternoon of Wednesday according to the Emergency Weather Deterioration Bulletin of the National Meteorological Service.
The low pressure area that has formed in the western Mediterranean is causing the bad weather “Atena” in the central Mediterranean and is moving eastwards.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected from the evening in the Ionian Islands, Epirus, western Sterea, and western Peloponnese.
According to the HNMS, scattered clouds are expected, locally denser in the west where local rains will occur, and from noon sporadic thunderstorms. The phenomena will be locally strong from the evening.
Winds will blow in the west from the south and in the east from the north, at 3 to 5 and temporarily up to 6 Beaufort in the Aegean.
The temperature will fluctuate around normal values for the season and will reach 29 to 31 degrees, and in the east, locally up to 32 degrees Celsius.

MACEDONIA, THRACE
Weather: Scattered clouds that will gradually thicken from the west and from the afternoon local rains will occur in western Macedonia which will intensify at night and sporadic thunderstorms will develop.
Winds: Variable, 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 19 to 31 degrees Celsius. In western Macedonia, it will be 3 to 4 degrees lower.
IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIRUS, WESTERN STEREA, WESTERN PELOPONNESE
Weather: Scattered clouds that will thicken at noon and local rains and sporadic thunderstorms will occur. From the evening hours, phenomena will be locally strong.
Winds: From southern directions, 3 to 5 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 21 to 31 and in the islands up to 29 degrees Celsius. In the interior of Epirus, it will be 3 to 4 degrees lower.
EASTERN STEREA, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNESE
Weather: Scattered clouds that will thicken at night.
Winds: From eastern directions, 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 21 to 32 degrees Celsius.
CYCLADES, CRETE
Weather: Generally clear with scattered clouds from noon.
Winds: From northern directions, 3 to 5 Beaufort, gradually weakening.

Weather: Generally clear with scattered clouds from the afternoon.

In the Ionian, the mainland (excluding Thrace) and gradually in the rest of the island country, increased clouds with local rains and sporadic thunderstorms. The phenomena will be locally strong until the evening hours in the Ionian islands, Epirus, western Sterea, and western Peloponnese, from late morning until late in the afternoon in western Macedonia, Thessaly, and eastern Sterea, early afternoon in central and eastern Macedonia and the Sporades.
The winds will blow from southern directions, 3 to 5 Beaufort, turning to northwesterly in the west from the afternoon with the same intensity.
The temperature will drop slightly, mainly in the west, reaching 26 to 28 degrees in the western and northern mainland and 29 to 31 degrees Celsius in the rest of the country.
FORECAST FOR WEDNESDAY 11-09-2024
In the west, few clouds temporarily increased with local rains in the morning in the Ionian and in the midday and afternoon hours in the mainland, where isolated thunderstorms will occur mainly in the mountains. In the rest of the areas, clouds with local rains and sporadic thunderstorms, locally strong in central and eastern Macedonia, the Sporades, Thrace, and the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean until the afternoon. In the evening hours, the phenomena will weaken and be confined to the eastern island country and Thrace.
Visibility in the evening hours will be locally limited in the west.
The winds in the west will be westerly-northwesterly, 3 to 5 Beaufort. In the rest of the areas, they will initially be southerly-southeasterly at 3 to 5 Beaufort, gradually turning to westerly directions with the same intensity.
The temperature will not change significantly.

In the eastern island country and Thrace, clouds with local rains until the afternoon. In the rest of the country, generally clear weather with few temporary clouds in the morning. Gradually in the Ionian and from the midday hours in the western mainland, clouds will increase, and local rains will occur. Brief showers may occur in the midday and afternoon hours in the mountainous northern mainland and the mountains of Crete.
Visibility in the morning hours will be locally limited, and fog will form in the western mainland.
The winds will initially blow from the west and gradually from southern directions, 3 to 5 Beaufort.
The temperature will rise slightly.
