JO1 won two awards at the K-POP music awards “2024 THE FACT MUSIC AWARDS” (TMA) held on September 8, being awarded the “TMA Popularity Award,” which is selected by fan votes given to only one group each year, and the “Artist of the Year” awarded to artists with notable achievements this year.

The “TMA” is a music awards ceremony organized by the South Korean internet media THE FACT and the global community service FAN N STAR supporting K-POP idol artists. Abbreviated as “TMA,” this year marks its seventh iteration and the first overseas event. The awards, making their debut in Japan, were held over two days at the Kyocera Dome Osaka.

Amidst a gathering of remarkable artists, JO1 took the stage on DAY 2 on the 8th, performing a powerful dance number “Trigger” with an electrifying performance. They also performed their singles “Love seeker” and “Test Drive,” both released in May this year and recorded long hits, in a strong and sometimes cute original composition prepared for the occasion.

As the awards were announced, JO1 was called by MC SeoHyun from Girls’ Generation to receive the prestigious “TMA Popularity Award,” which has previously been awarded to groups like BTS and SUPER JUNIOR and is determined solely by fan voting. The leader, Sho Yonashiro, expressed his gratitude, stating, “Thanks to all the JAM (fan name), we were able to receive this wonderful award. We are truly surprised that we could finish in first place.” Ruki Shiraiwa added, “Thank you for all the votes. Thanks to everyone in JAM, we are able to stand on this wonderful stage. As long as JAM is with us, JO1 will always be by your side. We love you so much today too! Let’s meet again soon.” Junki Kono spoke in Korean, saying, “I’m so happy to receive such a wonderful award. Please sleep well, wake up well, and eat well! And let’s cherish our feelings for each other forever,” receiving cheers from the gathered JAM.

Not stopping there, JO1 also received the “Artist of the Year” award, recognizing their yearly activities, achieving a remarkable double win. Shion Tsurubo delivered a speech in Korean, stating, “It is a great honor to receive such an award, and I am very grateful. I love you!”
