The organization Amnesty International sent an open letter to the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, where they request a meeting to discuss the expansion of the official prison, judicial reform and the elimination of National Institute of Transparency Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI).
“Amnesty International hopes that your arrival in the Presidency constitutes an opportunity to generate spaces for listening, dialogue and interlocution that allow for the construction of a work route that has as its center the victims of violations of human rights“, reads the letter.
The NGO also expressed concern about the militarization of public security, given that international standards establish that the use of armed forces must be subordinated to civilian corporations.
“We note the urgency of a plan that allows the gradual withdrawal of the armed forces public security tasks, including strengthening police forces,” Amnesty said.
Meanwhile, Claudia Sheinbaum, When questioned about the issue, she indicated that she has not had the opportunity to read the letter.
