The Paralympic torch was extinguished by the French bocce player Aurelie Aubert, who was joined by other French para-athletes.

The Paris Paralympic Games took place from August 28 to September 8 and approximately 4,400 para-athletes from 186 national Paralympic committees competed in them.

The flag bearer of the Latvian delegation at the closing ceremony was para-lightweight athlete Emīls Dzilna.

Latvian para-athlete Rihards Snikus won two gold medals in the Paralympic Games with the horse “King of the Dance”, Diāna Krūmiņa became the Paralympic champion in the javelin throw, and Aigars Apinis won the silver medal in the discus throw.

Latvia was represented at the Paris Paralympic Games by Apinis, Krumiņa Emīls Dzilna and Raivo Maksims (all – athletics), Oskars Gailišs (cycling), Yuris Semyonovs (swimming), Margita Kanopka (shooting) and Snikus (Paralympic dressage).

Paralight athlete Edgars Bergs had also won a place in the Games, but he refused to start in Paris due to health reasons.
