ICESCO: launch of a photography competition “The heritage of Marrakech seen by young people”
Rabat – The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) announced the launch of a photography competition “The heritage of Marrakech seen by young people”, as part of the festivities of “Marrakech, capital of culture in the Islamic world for the year 2024”.
The competition aims to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Ochre City and to encourage young people from the Islamic world and beyond to showcase their talents and creativity in documenting cultural heritage, a statement from the Organization said on Friday.
The competition prizes include two main sections, namely tangible cultural heritage and intangible cultural heritage. In each section, the first prize winner will receive US$500, the second US$350 and the third US$250, noting that other incentive prizes, worth US$100 each, will also be awarded to the works that place fourth, fifth and sixth in each section.
A joint committee of experts in this field will decide between the competing applications during the closing ceremony of the “Marrakech, capital of culture in the Islamic world” program, and the winning works will be the subject of a special exhibition.
Participants must be under 35 years old and send 5 to 10 photographs each. The works must be original, of high quality and unpublished, and must be sent with a declaration of intellectual property rights to ICESCO, before October 30, 2024.
