Ten months after Rabbi Avi Gisser announced his resignation from the position of rabbi of Ofra, tonight (Tuesday) the final result was received, according to which Rabbi Ahiya Ben Pazi was elected to the position, after in recent days the residents of Ofra voted via the online ballot box and the physical ballot box.

Rabbi Achia Ben Pezi, 37, married to Noa, an occupational therapist. They live in Yeruham and are the parents of six children. Rabbi Ben-Pezi studied at the Makor Chaim high school yeshiva and from there continued to the Hesder yeshiva in Yeruham and now also teaches at the “Chevruta” seminary at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

The last two candidates to reach the finish line are Rabbi Ben Pezi and Rabbi Hasdai Wiener. The two have recently been guests in the locality and even gave a number of lessons and meetings with the residents on Saturdays.

The search committee said: “After a joint and deep process and especially out of excitement and anticipation, we are happy to announce that Ofra was honored in choosing Rabbi Achia Ben Pezi as the rabbi of the community. Congratulations to Rabbi Achia, Noa and their children on joining the Ofra family.”
