10th Year Apple Watch Features Largest Display Ever
Apple announced the new “Apple Watch Series 10” at its fall product launch event. Released on the 10th anniversary since the first Apple Watch was announced in 2014, the Series 10 boasts the largest display ever in Apple Watch history, and the body has been slimmed down.
Bright and easy to see even when Always On
What captivates at first glance is the spacious large display. There are two case sizes, 46mm and 42mm, but the larger 46mm model has a bigger display than the 49mm case used in the Apple Watch Ultra, providing a wealth of information display. For the first time in an Apple Watch, “Wide-Angle OLED” has been adopted, achieving bright and easy-to-read displays all the way to the edges.

The case types are aluminum and titanium. A new color, Jet Black, has been added to the aluminum models. There was also a Jet Black color variant for the iPhone 7/iPhone 7 Plus released by Apple in 2016. The Jet Black of the Apple Watch Series 10 features a more lustrous finish, emphasizing the metal texture. Fingerprints are less noticeable on this color as well.

Slim and comfortable fit
In place of the stainless steel case, the titanium case has returned to the numbered series. Looking at the specs, the titanium case is slightly heavier than the aluminum Series 10, but when worn on the wrist, the titanium feels lighter. The back of the case, which used to be a glass panel, now has a higher metal ratio for a more cohesive design.

With software updates, both the Apple Watch Series 10 and Ultra 2 will gain the ability to rapidly charge the battery from 0% to about 80% in just 30 minutes.
Although I haven’t been able to try it at the venue, the Apple Watch Series 10 and Ultra 2 will also feature the ability to listen to music through built-in speakers. In my case, since I typically pair wireless earbuds like AirPods to my Apple Watch, I don’t foresee a lot of instances where I would use the exposed speaker for playback. There will be a built-in microphone noise reduction function that blocks surrounding environmental noise and clearly picks up only the user’s voice while making hands-free calls with the Apple Watch Series 10.
