The swabs and the scenario

I total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 530.858, or 332,345 more than yesterday when it was 198,513. The positivity rate drops to 8.8% (the approximation of 8.78%); yesterday it was 9%.

The curve it rises after hitting its lowest point on Monday, due to a greater number of buffers. Today is expected to be at the weekly peak of its ups and downs. The trend remains downas shown by the comparison with last Tuesday (February 22) – the same day of the week – when they were recorded +60,029 almost with a rate of 9.9%: in fact today there are fewer new infections than that day – the difference of over 13 thousand less – with a lower percentage (8.8% against 9.9%).

Lombardy has the highest number of new infected: +5,746 cases with a 6.7% rate thanks to 85,660 swabs, which is the highest number of regional tests of the day (here the bulletin).

Five regions over 4,000 cases follow: Sicily (+4.762 cases), Lazio (+4.543 cases), Veneto (+4.447 cases), Puglia (+4.316 cases) and Campania (+4.275 cases).

The victims

There are 233 victims in the bulletin against 207 yesterday. Several previous deaths in Campania and Sicily were included in the count, as the notes indicate. There are three regions / provinces that have zero bereavement: they are Basilicata, Molise and the province of Bolzano. While the highest number of deaths in Sicily (33, of which 19 occurred in the last 48 hours and 14 in the past days).

The health system

The decrease in hospitalizations continues in every area. The beds occupied in ordinary Covid wards I’m -395 (yesterday -17), for a total of 10,456 hospitalized. The beds occupied in intensive care (TI) are -6 (yesterday -19) – this is the balance between the people who left and those who entered ICU -, bringing the total of the most seriously ill patients to 708with 74 admissions to resuscitation (yesterday 39).

The Campania Region declares that 8 deaths recorded today date back to a period between 01/22 and 02/26 2022.

The Emilia-Romagna Region declares that 1 case communicated in the previous days has been eliminated as it is not considered a COVID-19 case.

The Friuli Venezia Giulia Region announces that the total of positive cases was reduced by 2 following 1 negative molecular swab after positive antigen test and following 1 positive test removed after review of the case.

The Region of Sicily reports that of the confirmed cases communicated today, n. 511 relate to days prior to 28/02/22 (of which no. 318 of 27/02/22 – no. 45 of 26/02/22 and no. 77 of 25/02/22) and that the deaths reported on today’s date are to be attributed to the days: N. 6 ON 02/28/2022 – N. 13 ON 02/27/2022 – N. 6 ON 02/26/2022 – N. 2 ON 02/25/2022 – N . 2 ON 02/24/2022 – N. 1 ON 02/09/2022 – N. 1 ON 01/17/2022 – N. 1 ON 01/11/2022 – N. 1 ON 01/10/2022.
