Moscow: Hollywood has suspended film distribution in Russia in protest of the Russian occupation of Ukraine. Leading Hollywood studios such as Sydney, Warner Bros. and Sony have announced that they will be releasing major movies in Russia.
Warner Media has announced that ‘The Batman’, one of the most important Hollywood releases of the year, will not be screened in Russia. Batman was scheduled to release in Russia on March 3. Warner Media reported that the war and the ensuing problems could wait until a peaceful end. The Walt Disney Company made a similar decision on Monday. Sony has announced that it will suspend all films in theaters in Russia, including the upcoming release of ‘Morbius’, in view of the Ukraine crisis. A Sony spokesman said he was confident the current crisis would be resolved soon.
