Pyeongchang Dementia Care Center received the Presidential Institutional Award and Gangwon-do Best Award in commemoration of Overcoming Dementia Day. Pyeongchang Dementia Care Center was honored with the Presidential Institutional Award and Gangwon-do Best Award at the same time at the Overcoming Dementia Day ceremony on the 12th.

The center received the Presidential Citation at a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry International Conference Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul, and on the same day, it received the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Grand Prize in the Dementia Management Public-Private Cooperation Project category at the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Dementia Overcoming Day Ceremony held at Megabox in Seoksa-dong, Chuncheon-si.

Pyeongchang-gun has been operating various dementia support programs for dementia patients in the community, including ▲customized cognitive enhancement rehabilitation programs, ▲support for dementia treatment management costs, ▲provision of nursing supplies such as diapers and wet tissues, and ▲operation of dementia-friendly villages to create a dementia-friendly environment. It has also been actively operating prevention programs such as expanded dementia-related counseling and early dementia screening.

Pyeongchang-gun received the Presidential Institutional Award in 2024 for its customized dementia management project at a medical center that understands the pain of patients and their families, and was awarded the Grand Prize in the Dementia Management Public-Private Cooperation Project of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province in 2024, following 2023.

Pyeongchang County is a super-aged region with 34.4% of the total population being over 65 years old. Early detection and treatment of dementia patients in the region, as well as management of healthy lifestyle habits for the elderly to prevent dementia, are tasks that Pyeongchang, which has entered a super-aged society, must implement immediately.

Pyeongchang County Governor Shim Jae-guk said, “I would like to thank the staff at the Pyeongchang County Dementia Care Center for their efforts in preventing and managing dementia.” He added, “We will do our best to create a dementia-friendly environment that residents can experience in order to create a warm community in Pyeongchang County where people with dementia can live comfortably.”
