Yechury attacks BJP without touching Congress – NEWS 360 – NATIONAL

by time news

Kochi: Despite being the main enemy of the Congress in Kerala, General Secretary Sitaram Yechury remained silent about the Congress in the inaugural address of the CPM state convention. Yechury said that without uttering the word “Congress”, the democratic forces should join hands in the struggle against the fascist RSS regime.

The CPM does not think that isolating and defeating the BJP is possible only through elections. It requires work in the political, cultural and ideological spheres. For this, the CPM must be strengthened. Ideological confrontation with superstition, irrationality and anthropology, which are the cornerstones of the Hindutva agenda. For this, the CPM must acquire the capacity and independent power to intervene politically. That should be the focus.

The unity of the Left forces must be strengthened through mass agitations. Democratic forces must be brought together. We need to work with them to put forward alternative policies. Elections will be held at a time when the Left forces are advancing. The main responsibility is to defeat the BJP. Yechury said the party would take necessary steps to garner maximum anti-BJP votes.

It is noteworthy that Yechury did not mention the Congress at the conference in Kerala in the context of the CPM Central Committee declaring in the draft political resolution to be presented at the party congress that there should be no political affiliation with the Congress to defeat the BJP. When the Congress agitates against the Left government, the CPM Kerala leadership is raising an alternative defense, alleging that the Congress is soft-spoken and colluding with the BJP. The state leadership has repeatedly said that the Congress will not be able to defend the BJP at the all-India level. It is noteworthy that Yechury’s speech was silent on all that.

The CPM is of the view that it can work with secular democratic forces, including the Congress, to oppose the BJP inside and outside Parliament. But there is no need for an electoral alliance with the Congress. When the draft was discussed in the Central Committee, the arguments of the Kerala component prevailed. Although Yechury explained his position without deviating from the draft, he did not mention the Congress.

RSS target in dangerous direction: Yechury

Kochi: Inaugurating the CPM state convention, General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said that the fascist-minded RSS’s aim of establishing a Hindutva state was moving things in a dangerous direction. Things got to the point where communal polarization was the only way to win the elections. Instead of finding a solution to the problems of the people, the RSS is trying to implement the agenda by strengthening communal polarization. The hijab controversy in Karnataka is being used to strengthen communal polarization. Since coming to power in 2019, the central BJP government has been carrying out a well-calculated attack on the parliamentary basis of the Indian Constitution. In an interview to the channels before the Assembly elections, the Prime Minister said that the Left was only in the corner of Kerala and that it was a dangerous ideology and should be opposed as it was against the national interest. Yechury said Modi was saying that the Left should oppose the BJP government because Kerala is becoming the venue for an alternative to the Left government.
