jpnn.comJAKARTA – The National Police Criminal Investigation Unit conducted a raid on a counterfeit money production house in two locations in Bekasi, West Java (Jabar).
The raid resulted in the arrest of eight suspects, namely SUR, SU, IL, AS, MFA, EM, SUD, and JR.
Director of Special Economic Crimes of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit Brigadier General Helfi Assegaf explained that suspect SUR acted as the owner. Then, suspect SU as an employee who cut the counterfeit money.
“Then IL, AS, MFA, EM, SUD, and JR acted as intermediaries,” Helfi told reporters, Thursday (12/9).
Head of Sub-Directorate IV of the Directorate of Special Economic Crimes of the Criminal Investigation Unit, Senior Commissioner Andi Sudarmaji, added that the suspects had been operating since early 2024. Based on the suspects’ confessions, they had printed six times.
“Once printed as many as 12,000 sheets. We have detained the suspect,” he said.
He explained that the network usually produces counterfeit printed money worth Rp300 million. Sales are also carried out with a buy-out system like drug transactions.
“Evidence of counterfeit rupiah money in the denomination of Rp100 thousand amounting to 12,000 sheets. The counterfeit money cannot be converted into rupiah because it has no value,” he said.
