Shahriar Nazim Joy is an actor-producer of small and big screen. He has been in the news for years by hosting controversial TV shows. He was completely absent during the anti-discrimination movement. A letter written by Joy to former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has gone viral on social media. This actor has come under great criticism for this.
Joy wrote the letter to Sheikh Hasina in February 2014, which went viral on the net world. The actor also addressed the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as ‘the best leader of the subcontinent’ and ‘ideal mother’ in anticipation of getting a piece of land. With which he has fallen in the face of cannon. Some have also commented on Joy as ‘oil man’, ‘broker’.
In the beginning of the viral letter, Shahriar Nazim Joy wrote, ‘Honorable Prime Minister, the best leader of the subcontinent and ideal mother’. Then the actor wrote, ‘Salutations to you for the joy of another son named Shahriar Nazim. I am Jai, a popular hero (TV & Film) from Bangladesh. With your prayers, I have been one of the sources of entertainment for the people of Bangladesh for the past 17 years on TV screens and in healthy films.’
Joy wrote praising Sheikh Hasina’s politics, ‘You are very compassionate and a friend to the dangers of the people of Bengal. Not only this, but the strong, courageous and enlightened ideals you espoused during the last election period have made people like us pledge to salute your leadership forever.’
Joy wrote asking for a piece of land in Purbachal, ‘Ma, an artist’s appeal to you, all my contemporary artists have got 10 katha, 5 katha plots in Purbachal. I couldn’t apply for shooting outside the country. Later, if Jhilmil applied, he did not get it in the lottery. Mother, a land in Purbachal is my dream – my child’s future. I begged you, I know you will not throw away the abdar of this child of yours (InshAllah).’
The letter went viral on social media
The viral letter has the seal of a deputy secretary. For reference there is the seal and signature of the then Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Ministry. After several attempts on the phone of Shahriar Nazim Joy to find out the authenticity of this letter, he could not be reached. It could not be confirmed whether Jai got a piece of land in Purbachal.
