Women’s ODI World Cup: India win second warm – up match

Wellington: India won the second warm-up match ahead of the Women’s ODI World Cup. The Indian women defeated the West Indies by 81 runs. Returning from injury, opener Smriti Manthana scored 66 runs. In the last match, Manthana left the field unfinished batting after being hit by a bouncer helmet.

Batting first, India scored 258 off Manthana’s batting prowess. Deeptha Sharma (51) and Yashtika Bhatia (42) were the other notable contributors. Captain Mithali Raj (30) performed better. In reply, the Windies scored 177 for nine. Pooja Vastrakar took three wickets for 21 runs.

In the first match, India defeated South Africa by two runs. The World Cup starts on March 4. India’s first match is against Pakistan at 6 p.m. Meanwhile, India’s Smriti Manthana has returned to the top five in the ICC Women’s ODI rankings. Australia’s Alyssa Healy and India’s Mithali Raj remain in the top two.
