The Corsaro Brothers is the new miniseries starring Beppe Fiorello, airing on Canale 5 starting Wednesday, September 11 (the final episode, barring changes to the schedules, is expected on October 2).
The screenplay is based on the mystery novels of Salvo Toscano, author of 12 books featuring the brothers Roberto and Fabrizio Corsaro. The stories, set in Palermo, were published between 2005 and 2024. However, the TV series – in four episodes – will only portray the first four novels: Last Call (2005), The Barabba Enigma (2006), Blood of My Blood (2009), and Unusual Suspects (2015).
The Corsaro Brothers, the plot
Giuseppe Fiorello is Fabrizio Corsaro, an impetuous journalist fascinated by women. Paolo Briguglia is Roberto, his brother, a lawyer who is fiercely loyal to his wife. Together, thanks also to the perfect intertwining of their personalities, the two manage to solve the most complicated cases.
At the center of the episodes are murders linked to a high school sexual scandal, accusations against a Polish caregiver working with an elderly woman, and the involvement of a mayor in the murder of a town’s secretary. During the investigations, the characteristics of Fabrizio and Roberto come into play, as the former must manage his romantic conquests while the latter harbors the desire to become a father.
Quips and brotherhood set the pace of the investigations. And, with them, of the entire TV series.
The cast
The protagonists of The Corsaro Brothers are Giuseppe Fiorello and Paolo Briguglia.
Fiorello is Fabrizio, a crime journalist with a cunning character, who has never been in a relationship but loves to flirt. A mama’s boy to Antonia, he is charming and cheerful. Briguglia is Roberto, his brother, a serious criminal lawyer, reliable and upright, a faithful husband to Monica.
The cast also includes Roberta Rigano as Giulia, Fabrizio’s colleague and close friend, and Lorena Cacciatore as Valeria, Roberto’s lawyer and partner, high school friend of Monica, who is in love with a woman who will end up breaking her heart. Erica Corsaro is Monica, Roberto’s wife and an employee at a publishing house, Katia Greco is Maria Librizzi, an activist committed against the mafia, with whom Fabrizio starts a relationship. Lastly, we find Vittorio Magazzù as Pippo Nocera (a crime photographer) and Anita Zagaria as Antonia Corsaro (mother of Fabrizio and Roberto).
