The chief prosecutor for High Complexity, Miguel Angel Orellana, said that he does not rule out Chadwick going from witness to defendant if it is proven that he was aware of the fraudulent scheme developed by STF Capital.
The Financial Market Commission (CMF) acknowledged that Andrés Chadwick made arrangements in favor of STF Capital, a company of the Sauer brothers who had as defenders the questioned lawyers Luis Hermosilla and Leonarda Villalobos.
According to La Tercera, this fact came to light in the context of an internal investigation by the CMF, where one of its members, identified as Augusto Iglesias, acknowledged that The former Minister of the Interior called him to intercede for the signing.
In the document delivered by the agency to the chief prosecutor of Las Condes, Felipe Sepúlveda, it is detailed that Andrés Chadwick told Iglesias that STF Capital would present the necessary resources to comply with the rule and reverse the suspension that the CMF maintained in March 2023.
At that time, Luis Hermosilla and Daniel Sauer, one of the company’s controllers, took action to lift the penalty against them, linked to non-compliance with legal requirements related to the submission of audited financial statements.
According to Augusto Iglesias, Andrés Chadwick said that the firm would make the necessary adjustments so that his suspension would be voided. Although the CMF stressed that the call from former President Sebastián Piñera’s cousin did not constitute a crime, it considered that it should be reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
For his part, the chief prosecutor of High Complexity, Miguel Angel Orellana, who is in charge of the investigation of the Audios case, stated that does not rule out Chadwick going from witness to defendant if it is proven that he was aware of the fraudulent scheme developed by STF Capital.
