The Public Prosecutor’s Office revealed the circumstances surrounding the forgery of documents by an Egyptian expatriate claiming that he was a Libyan citizen, and using these documents to assume the position of Director of the Planning Department at the Ministry of Justice since 2021.

The office stated in a statement published on its official page, “The Deputy Public Prosecutor, at the Office of the Attorney General at the Tripoli Court of Appeal, reviewed the evidence of the Intelligence Service officer regarding the fact that an Egyptian expatriate held a public office using documents indicating that he belongs to the State of Libya by nationality, so the investigator conducted an investigation to verify the accuracy of the information.”

The statement added, “The investigation results confirmed that the accused was employed within the administrative units in the health sector in violation of the civil service regulations, then moved to the Ministry of Justice, where he assumed responsibility for planning; and exercised its duties to benefit from its powers in an illegal manner, represented in corrupt practices, the most notable of which was his receipt of one million, three hundred and twenty thousand dinars in exchange for facilitating the disbursement of the price of service contracts provided by the implementation tools for the benefit of the justice sector.”

The statement pointed out that the investigator decided to “order his detention pending investigation.”
