The third edition of the fair “Women who Weave Knowledge” ended with great success in La Rebeca Park in Pereira, where 30 artisans from different municipalities of Risaralda managed to make their talent visible and strengthen their economic independence through the commercialization of their artisanal products.

The event, which took place on September 13 and 14, brought together artisans from 10 municipalities in the department, who presented a wide range of creations, from jewelry and costume jewelry to macramé weaving, basketry and decorative pieces. “They have been able to offer, show, make visible and generate income opportunities for their families through ancestral crafts and techniques that have been inherited from generation to generation,” said Lorenza Suárez, director of the Risaralda Crafts program.

During the fair, attendees enjoyed live demonstrations of traditional crafts, such as weaving and coffee processing, as well as participating in talks on female empowerment and financial support for female entrepreneurs. Suárez highlighted that this event is part of the comprehensive process of strengthening the artisan sector, operated by the Pereira Improvement Society.

For his part, Álvaro Arias, Secretary of Economic Development and Competitiveness of Risaralda, said that: “Through the Risaralda Crafts program, we have benefited 600 artisans, strengthening their capabilities and making visible their valuable contribution to our identity. Do not miss this opportunity to celebrate the best of our local talent.”
