“Together for the Firefighters”: this is the name of the new support card for the peace soldiers of Elvas, an initiative by the Municipal Chamber.
Revealing that it will come into effect “very soon”, the president of the Chamber, Rondão Almeida, explains that this card includes “a set of incentives”. The proposal, unanimously approved by the Municipal Chamber executive, will be, the mayor adds, a “very important element”.
“Many times, we forget those who do so much to save our own lives and it is time to present a proposal to have a set of incentives for all our firefighters,” he adds.
The benefits that the operational members of the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Elvas will have access to include, from the outset, a 15% discount on the water bill. “Those who own a home will also have a reduction in the IMI,” Rondão Almeida points out.
Furthermore, the firefighters “will have the opportunity to participate in all our initiatives, starting with the swimming pools”. This measure applies not only to the firefighters themselves but also to their “wives and minor children”.
Through this card, the Municipal Chamber of Elvas seeks to “value and support those who are always willing to help”.
