During the training, the officials of the North Latgale district of the VP Latgale regional administration accompanied the military equipment column from the territory of Rēzekne district to Ludza district.

Within one day, the law enforcement officers started 14 administrative violation processes according to the procedures specified in Section 63, Part 3 of the Road Traffic Law on not giving way to an emergency vehicle. The law stipulates a fine for the driver of the vehicle from 30 to 70 euros.

VP draws the attention of the citizens that the Road Traffic Regulations stipulate that if an emergency vehicle approaches with a lit flashing blue and red beacon and a special sound signal, other drivers of vehicles traveling in the same direction and drivers of oncoming vehicles must give way to it by stopping the vehicle at sidewalk or on the edge, or if it is occupied – as close as possible to the right side of the carriageway. Drivers of vehicles approaching the intersection from the roads of the other direction must stop the vehicle before the roadway to be crossed. You may resume driving only after a vehicle with a lit flashing blue beacon, which is driving behind the escorted vehicle, has passed.

It has already been reported that from September 3rd to October 8th, the comprehensive national defense exercise “Namejs 2024” organized by the National Armed Forces will take place throughout Latvia, in which approximately 11,000 Latvian and allied soldiers and national guardsmen will participate.
