Franco Colapinto dedicated his good result in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix qualifying, which he called a “dream,” to the Williams engineers who worked hard after his incident in practice.
Franco Colapinto dedicated his impressive ninth place in qualifying for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix to the Williams engineers who worked tirelessly to rebuild his car after an accident in one of Friday’s free practices.
The Argentine driver explained that “it was tough, but tougher than it would have been if I had not been able to do Free Practice 2, and fortunately, the guys in the garage did a fantastic job too. They didn’t even have lunch, but they worked hard to get my car ready for practice. And after they did that, they gave me a huge boost of confidence and a lot of energy to try to get a good result for them, for the effort they have made this year.”
Emphasizing that there is “still a long way to go” in the Azerbaijan GP, Colapinto admitted that “it was a fantastic moment, my first Q3, and I’m very happy about that, to be honest. It’s the moment that every driver dreams of.”
With both drivers from the British team present in Q3, Franco Colapinto insists that “it is a very important moment for Williams, and for me, a dream come true. After yesterday it was going to be difficult, but we made a good comeback, so we are happy. I managed it in my second weekend in F1, so I couldn’t be happier. It was a very good session.”
