The Ministry of Education of the Government of National Unity announced that “the 2024-2025 academic year began this morning, Tuesday, for the primary and secondary education stages.”
The Minister of Education in the Government of National Unity, Dr. Musa Al-Maqrif, said: “Today we begin a new academic year in which the journey of science and knowledge resumes, and the educational process begins on the path of advancement, prosperity, pride and honor, under the slogan “The Year of Quality and Excellence.” We are laying the foundation stone for building a distinguished generation, capable of carrying the torch of progress and innovation.”
“The start of the 2024-2025 academic year has been postponed for two weeks, due to a number of educational institutions in a number of municipalities undergoing light and comprehensive maintenance,” and the 2024-2025 academic year will witness the enrollment of 236,098 male and female students in the first grade of basic education.
The Ministry of Education took the opportunity to “appreciate the efforts of education supervisors, directors of departments, centers, administrations and offices, male and female teachers, workers in the education sector, social service, school health and psychological counseling specialists, security personnel, and parents, for the efforts they make to ensure that the educational process proceeds as hoped.”
In a previous statement, the ministry renewed “granting discretionary authority to education supervisors in municipalities affected by weather fluctuations to postpone the start of school until educational institutions are ready and evacuated of displaced persons.”
