“We are fighting with all our strength.” Eleonora Giorgi, on Verissimo, today shares her battle against pancreatic cancer. The treatments, says the 70-year-old actress, have only partially worked in the last cycle of therapies. “The story began 10 and a half months ago. Chemotherapy allowed the removal of the main tumor, but pancreatic cancer creates a sort of sheath. There have been some ‘surprises’; for 3 months we tried to eliminate them, but it only worked partially,” she says.

“The metastases have ‘grown larger, I will undergo important tests tomorrow and the day after. They will send samples abroad, to America. In Houston, a key has been found for 14% of patients. We are fighting with all our strength. The best solution would be to attack the metastases with radiation therapy. The alternative is so crazy; we learned about it two days ago. Everything will be fine, but if it doesn’t go well, I say goodbye to everyone… I feel overwhelmed with love and affection; I hold no resentment,” she adds.

“Life is like this. It’s crazy; priorities change: it happens, it can be worse. Life is a poker game; you can never know. You have to hope that everything goes well, but I am clear-headed, rational, and fatalistic. Fate strikes you, and you don’t understand why. There’s a madness I must say: this has been the best year of my life; I am a lucky person. Everything will be fine,” she repeats.
