The Municipal Council in Sabha counted the damage caused by the heavy rains and floods that hit the city in the past few days, confirming that there are more than 517 families in need of assistance, and more than 223 homes were damaged.

The council explained on its official page that according to “initial statistics, there are “more than 517 families in need of urgent assistance in the neighborhoods of Cairo, Tahrir, Manshiyya, and Hagara.”

The council continued, “The number of homes damaged by heavy rains in the Sabha municipality so far has reached more than 223 homes in the neighborhoods of Tahrir, Al-Manshiya, Al-Qarda and Hajara.”

The council added, “The inventory operations are still ongoing in the Cairo neighborhood, which is flooded with rainwater,” calling for urgent intervention in the neighborhood to avoid an increase in the number of those affected.

The council confirmed that the electricity network has returned to several neighborhoods, except for the neighborhoods that are still submerged in water, including Cairo and Tayouri neighborhoods.

The Council stressed that emergency teams should try to respond to the requests of citizens whose homes were flooded with water, and they succeeded in pumping water from many homes and government headquarters despite the difficulties due to the lack of capabilities.

The Council pointed out that there is a shortage in the number of water suction vehicles and towed pumps, which is why some roads are still full of water, including the cemetery road in Al-Qardah district, the University of Al-Maidan road in Al-Jadeed district, the crossroads behind the Agricultural Bank, and some neighborhoods in the population expansion areas.
