“Al-Sayd” discusses regulating import and export operations with the commercial attaché in Beijing

Counselor Shadhar Al-Sayed, Advisor to the Minister of Economy and Trade in the Government of National Unity, discussed with the Chargé d’Affairs of the Libyan Embassy in the People’s Republic of China, Khaled Al-Sayeh, the difficulties facing the embassy’s work in terms of organizing import and export operations, and continuous communication regarding the latest decisions of the Ministry of Economy and Trade regarding determining the lists of prohibited goods and commodities, and those whose export and import are restricted.

The ministry reported on its Facebook page that the two sides discussed, during a meeting at the embassy headquarters on the sidelines of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC 2024) summit, the problems related to regulating the work of Libyan inspection companies and verifying certificates of origin for Chinese goods exported to Libya in accordance with Libyan legal procedures, in a way that ensures the protection of the Libyan consumer.

Al-Sayed pointed out the importance of unifying efforts between the embassy and the relevant institutions to facilitate the movement of trade and services, and obligating Libyan traders and others to adhere to the specifications and standards approved by the Libyan state, in a way that serves to protect the Libyan consumer and strengthen economic relations between the two countries.

For his part, Al-Saij stressed the importance of continuous communication to solve the difficulties facing the embassy’s work in the economic and commercial aspects, and the necessity of working with the relevant authorities on the Chinese side to facilitate the procedures for obtaining visas, to facilitate the work of the private sector, enhance economic and commercial cooperation, establish the required partnerships, and participate in governmental and private economic activities.

The two sides agreed to assign the head of the Libyan-Chinese Joint Chamber to register Libyan offices and companies operating in China, to facilitate the provision of services and care for and protect their economic interests as required by the competent authorities in the Chinese government.

The Assistant Commercial Attaché at the Embassy was also assigned to provide the requirements, specifications and standards required by the Chinese side for goods and commodities imported to China, to enable Libyan products to benefit from the promotion service provided by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce for African products in Chinese markets, and to facilitate Libyan manufacturing companies to participate in exhibitions held in the People’s Republic of China to display their products.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Foreign Trade and International Cooperation Department at the Ministry, Issam Al-Malhouf, Deputy Director of the Minister’s Office, Wissam Al-Latif, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan-Chinese Joint Chamber, Naim Abu Abdullah, Assistant Commercial Attaché at the Embassy, ​​Najib Daw, and Director of Consular Affairs, Abdul Karim Al-Suwaidi.
