Beijing: On the one hand, China talks about normalizing the situation with India, on the other hand, it is constantly engaged in strengthening its military infrastructure on the border. China’s People’s Liberation Army is building a new heliport just 20 kilometers from the Indian border. Satellite imagery expert Damien Simon has given information about this on his X handle. In a post on X, Simon has told that China is building a new heliport near the Fishtails sector of Arunachal Pradesh, which is just 20 km from the Indian border. This facility will increase China’s ability to rapidly send troops to forward posts and improve its patrolling on the border.

China is continuously increasing its military infrastructure

Earlier in July, China completed the construction of a bridge in its occupied area on Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh, which has made it easier for it to move troops in the area. Satellite images had revealed that China had completed the black topping work in the month of July itself. Information about the construction of the bridge by the Chinese army was first reported in January 2022. This bridge has been built on the narrowest part of the lake.

The bridge, which was completed in July, increases the mobility of the Chinese army. Along with this, it helps in reducing the time required to start the operation immediately. It will help the Chinese soldiers to reach the areas of Rejang La with their tanks. This is the same area where India defeated the Chinese in 2020.

China is strengthening air access

These are not the only two cases. China has activated its second runway in Hotan, Xinjiang in April this year. The operation of this runway will help it to increase the deployment of troops and equipment in case of conflict. Hotan is the closest Chinese base to eastern Ladakh. Hotan airbase plays an important role in Chinese military operations during tensions between India and China. However, sources say that India has also increased its military facilities on the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh.
