Popular producer Mustafa Saryar Faruqi. In his production career, he has given many popular plays and films. He produced long serials like ‘420’ with political stories. He can be seen talking about various contemporary issues outside of work. He chose social media to express his thoughts.

Faruqi has been active on social media since the beginning of the anti-discrimination student movement. Even after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government in the popular uprising, she has maintained that continuity. He regularly gives his opinion and advice on various ongoing issues. This time, the filmmaker talked about who helped former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to become a ‘monster’ or ‘giant’.

Faruqi posted a long post on his Facebook on Monday (September 16) afternoon. At the beginning of the writing, the director said, “How did we help Sheikh Hasina to become a monster?” Who made him a monster? Simple answer- So called civil society of Bangladesh. The civil society, fueled by the mantra ‘Stop BNP’ (although they used to say BNP-Jamaat, but deep down they knew that BNP was more capable of winning the vote, so between the lines was BNPE) gave Hasina the license to do whatever she wanted. If the civil society of Bangladesh does not do this self-criticism, then we will continue to give birth to such monsters in the future. We say democracy in our mouths, but in our armpits we are ‘thekateki’!”

By taking away the right to vote, Farooqi considers it an original sin to prevent someone from voting. In his words, ‘You see, anyone can want to block anyone. It is his democratic right. For this he can campaign, shape public opinion. But confusion arises when this suppression is done through vote rigging or disenfranchisement. Here is our original sin. Sheikh Hasina was given the license or consent to destroy all state institutions from this Directorate of Disappearance-Murder-Bank Robbery-Smuggling lakhs of rupees.

Taking an example, Faruqi said, ‘The time is coming to understand that the people of Bangladesh know when to stop whom. He did not prevent BNP in 96? Awami League did not stop in 2001? Did not prevent BNP again in 2008? After that, the people were not given a chance. As a result, the time has come to come out of this original sin by handing over the responsibility of prevention to the people.

Farooqui explained the answer to the question by throwing the question. According to him, ‘the question may arise, if the people elect the wrong people? Does the wrong power come into government? If you accept the rule of thumb, you have to accept it. By accepting, you will strongly criticize the wrong actions of the wrong people, protest, go to court! Will do whatever it takes to keep him in line and push him to the next vote. Its name is democracy.’

“And if you don’t do that, if you think that we and some of my followers know best what will be good for the country, then you are in the process of becoming another Hasina. His words are still ringing in my ears, ‘Who understands the good of this country better than me?’ Farooqui said.
