Honsell (Open): Home Care and Caregivers, Inadequate Plans – Health and Wellbeing

(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 16 SEPTEMBER – “Two important issues were discussed today in the Regional Council’s Health Commission: the first concerns home care for people with dementia, the second concerns caregivers. Open Sinistra Fvg was the only group not to be swept away by the enthusiasm for Riccardi’s proposals and not to express a favorable opinion for the two proposed measures, namely the experimentation of community home care and the three-year regional plan for the valorization of the family caregiver”. This was stated in a note, reported by Acon, by the regional councilor of Open Sinistra Fvg, Furio Honsell, on the sidelines of the session of the Third Commission.
“Considering the number of people affected by dementia – he explains – only a little more than a hundred are those involved in the experimentation which turns out to be linked to the initiatives of the PNRR and, therefore, does not concern critical territories such as the mountains. The plan for caregivers also does not seem very concrete, it distributes resources only to municipalities and companies for information activities, but does not provide answers to the many people who are sometimes forced to leave their jobs, losing protection, to assist a family member”.
