89% consider that justice is unfair and 60% believe that ACs are necessary for trust in the Judiciary

According to the survey, a large part of the people (80%) believe that all the cases in which Judge Angela Vivanco has participated should be reviewed.

The latest edition of the Black&White survey addressed the crisis facing the Judiciary, particularly the Supreme Court, after several judges were linked to the lawyer Luis Hermosilla, within the framework of Audios Case.

One of them is the minister Angela Vivancowho was suspended from her duties at the country’s highest court amid the investigation being carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office for alleged crimes of incompatible negotiation, bribery and influence peddling.

Citizens’ perception of the crisis unleashed by the Audios Case in the Judiciary

Along these lines, the majority (77%) considers that the Audios Case is a reflection of bad practices and/or corruption in the Judicial system at a general and structural level. Considering the above, theThe vast majority (88%) believes that whoever selects the members of the Supreme Court should be an independent body.

In this regard, 94% of those surveyed consider it unacceptable for candidates for Supreme Court judges to ask their acquaintances to influence their election, as was the case with the cross-favors that Hermosilla and Vivanco allegedly carried out.

Furthermore, 98% consider it unacceptable that, once appointed, judges provide favours to those who supported their appointment.

On the other hand, a large part of the people who were surveyed (80%) consider that all cases in which Judge Angela Vivanco has participated should be reviewed.

As for the judges involved in the investigation into the Audios Case, the majority (82%) believes that they should be suspended from their duties immediately.

In addition, the Black&White survey shows that the 60% consider that constitutionally accusing all those involved is necessary to restore confidence in the judicial system.
