In recent days, with the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico City and the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature, through the National Museum of Art (Munal), the “Cutting-edge dialogues. The Pearlman Collection at the Munal”.
In this exhibition, which will be open to the public until January 12, 2025is an opportunity where “the Mexican public will be able to appreciate works by reference artists in the history of art, such as Van GoghCézanne, Modigliani, Toulouse, Manet, Renoir, among others, together with our great national artistic bastions, such as Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente OrozcoRoberto Montenegro, Manuel Rodríguez Lozano, Germán Gedobius, Félix Parra and Gerardo Murillo”, according to the words of Dolores Martínez Orralde, Deputy Director General of Immovable Artistic Heritage.

“The paintings that are arriving in Mexico for the first time are the result of acquisitions that Henry Pearlman made over three decades, together with his wife Rose,” the statement said. For this reason, Daniel Edelmangrandson of the former owners of the collection and current legal owner of the same, noted:
“Today is the first time that any of these works have been seen in Mexico. It is very important to me and to us that the Pearlman Collection has this opportunity, to be in the Munalbecause it is a museum of the people.”
The collection, Edelman added, is the result of his grandparents “for 25 years or so, collecting works by Cezanne, Manet, Modigliani, Toulouse and others, but they did not want to enjoy them alone, they always wanted many other people to have the opportunity to discover and enjoy them.”

Hector Palhares Mezadirector of Munal and curator of this exhibition, commented at the opening that:
“Europe and Mexico coexist in this exhibition, not only as you will see in the rooms, due to an iconographic affinity, due to similarities in many of the works, but also, evidently, due to great symbolisms hidden in these pieces: aesthetic motives, similar sensibilities, the great context of that Belle Epoque”.
Finally, “Avant-garde dialogues”, which Palhares himself defines as “a dialogue with all of you too”, can be found in the rooms on the first floor of the Munal. In addition, you will find “a rich academic program that brings together important specialists and researchers of modern art in Europe and Mexico.”
The general cost is 90 pesos. Free admission on Sundays. Free admission for children under 13, people with disabilities, and people with valid teacher or student credentials, or from Inapam.
