Jesse Lingard (32, FC Seoul), who was investigated by the police for driving an electric kickboard without a license, apologized through social media.
Lingard said on his SNS on the 17th, “I apologize for the video I uploaded earlier,” and “There are different regulations for riding electric scooters in countries outside of the UK. Please be careful and familiar with the relevant regulations.”
Lingard then apologized, saying, “I rode an electric scooter for a short time. I didn’t know that in Korea, only those who wear a helmet and have a driver’s license can ride one.” He continued, “Foreigners visiting Korea should check these regulations carefully. Safety is the top priority. I will never repeat something like this again.”
Earlier, Lingard was embroiled in controversy after posting a picture of himself riding an electric kickboard on social media on the 16th.
Lingard was riding an electric scooter without a helmet and without a license in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. He is currently unlicensed after being fined and having his license suspended for 18 months for drunk driving in the UK in September last year.
Lingard later deleted the post of himself riding an electric kickboard, but Gangnam Police Station began investigating Lingard’s drinking and driving habits on the 17th and whether he had an international driver’s license.
Lingard, who played for Manchester United in the English Premier League (EPL), made a surprise transfer to Seoul earlier this year. He has played in 18 K League 1 games this season and has scored 4 goals.
