“Nala,” a dog-lifeguard, along with her owner, saved an elderly man from drowning in Kamena Vourla.

This is a long-haired German shepherd, the only rescue dog in our country.

Specifically, as stated to LamiaReport.gr by her trainer and rescuer, Georgios Papageorgiou, who is her owner, Nala is four years old and for the last two years, she has been trained in marine rescue at the only school in the world with this specialty, which is located in Italy.

On Thursday (12/9), Nala’s owner went to visit a friend in Kamena Vourla. While he was at the beach with Nala, he saw a 77-year-old swimmer floating in the water unconscious, 50 meters from the shore.

The two of them jumped into the sea and brought him to shore. They provided first aid, and the 77-year-old, who had swallowed a lot of water, revived and was then transferred to the hospital in Lamia, where he is hospitalized out of danger.
