Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced the signing of a “long-term” agreement with the French group “TotalEnergies” to supply liquefied natural gas for a period of ten years.

“We have signed a long-term LNG agreement between our national company Botas and TotalEnergies,” Bayraktar said on the X platform.

He explained that “this agreement will be valid for 10 years starting from 2027, and sixteen shipments of liquefied natural gas will be delivered at a capacity of approximately 1.6 billion cubic meters annually.”

He stressed that “our long-term LNG agreements are of great importance to ensuring the energy supply and flexibility of our country and region, and enhancing the diversity of our resources.”

In a related context, the French energy company TotalEnergies said, “The liquefied natural gas deal with the Turkish company Botas will reduce its exposure to market fluctuations.”

“We are pleased to start a new long-term cooperation with Botas, our main partner in Turkey. This agreement enables us to secure long-term sales and reduce our exposure to gas price volatility in the spot market,” said Gregory Geoffroy, Senior Vice President LNG at TotalEnergies.
