by times news cr

The Tarhuna Victims Association condemned the release of the former commander of the so-called Gate of the Triangle of the Quma, affiliated with the Kani militias, Adel Abdel Hafeez Yakhlef, and the commander of the Souq al-Jumaa Support Force, Masabiha Noureddine Yakhlef, by Haftar’s forces after their arrest last year.

The association added in a statement that the 166th Brigade, affiliated with Haftar, published last year confessions of the brothers’ involvement in dozens of extrajudicial killings, crimes of enforced disappearance, arbitrary detention, and torture of victims in Tarhuna, according to it.

The association pointed out that among the confessions of the released person in the Eastern Region, Nouri Abdul Hafeez, was the killing of the judge of the Al-Khums Primary Court, Muhammad Amer.

The association stated that the Criminal Investigation Department of the Criminal Investigation Department, Marj, Belt and Coast Branch, published on its official page in 2021, confessions of the killing of Brigadier General Masoud Al-Dawi; proving the involvement of the Al-Kani militia, and that the most prominent accused are Marai Al-Hash and Osama Al-Mashfash, stressing that the accused are still outside the grip of justice, and are moving between the eastern and southern regions.

The association expressed its deep concern about the impunity of a number of “Kani militia criminals,” after receiving information about the presence of some of them in several cities in the east and west of the country, including the city of Zawiya, despite the issuance of arrest warrants against them by the civil and military public prosecution.

The association indicated in a statement that some of these criminals have joined armed groups that provide them with protection, and that they use weapons to protect themselves from accountability, disregarding the systems and laws, according to its statement.

The Tarhuna Victims Association called on the Military Prosecutor General, the Attorney General, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Department, and all agencies tasked with pursuing and arresting wanted persons, to take urgent measures against these criminals who were involved in murders against the people of Tarhuna and the surrounding areas.

The Association renewed its appeal to the aforementioned authorities to work to end the impunity of criminals, especially since their names, pictures and locations are known to everyone, in order to ensure justice and bring the perpetrators to trial.
