New explosions occurred in a number of wireless communication devices in Beirut and several Lebanese regions, causing the death and injury of dozens.
The Lebanese National News Agency reported that “three people were killed in the explosion of wireless devices in the town of Sahmar,” while the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that “more than 100 people were injured in the initial toll of the new explosions that targeted wireless devices.”
The National News Agency added, “A number of Icom wireless devices exploded in the hands of their owners and inside homes in Tyre.”
Lebanese media reported that “a number of wounded people were transferred to hospitals as a result of a new cyber attack that targeted, in addition to pager devices, wireless communications devices.”
A Lebanese source also reported the explosion of a number of wireless communication devices used by Hezbollah members in several Lebanese regions, less than 24 hours after explosions in wireless pagers that resulted in deaths and injuries.
A source told Sputnik: “A number of wireless communication devices used by Hezbollah exploded in several Lebanese regions, and initial information indicates that they are not pagers.”
He pointed out that “some of the explosions resulted in injuries and fires in a number of homes, cars and motorcycles due to the presence of the devices in them, as 4 cars burned in the town of Abbasiyeh in southern Lebanon.”
